The telephone calls have started up again. We usually get those telemarketers at every hour between morning and night. Now it is the political calls. Those people must think I am an idiot. They are calling to tell me for whom I should vote. I quit voting FOR a candidate years ago and started voting AGAINST a candidate.
The politicians are liars anyway. The promises they make are not even within reality, because they are only playing to a certain base of voters. They "love their country and want to serve." Give me a break. They want to make money and gain benefits. I would certainly trade salaries and benefits with any of them. If the incumbents want to trim the budget they could begin with their own incomes which is five times as much as the average person makes. The only place a person truly serves his country without good pay is in the military.
The strangest part of their rhetoric is when they claim to hate government but want my vote to get into it. What? You want to work for the devil? You want to join up with the very thing that has made you so miserable? Oh, you want to change it. No you don't. If you wanted to change it you would not be taking money from the same people who got those into office who are there.
Pardon the rant, but I have become so disappointed with promise after promise and still there are no improvements. No they are worse. From what I hear, these people have superhuman strength. They can single-handedly solve our socio-economic problems in a single bound. "I will..." "I will..." "I will..." says their ads. "See how wonderful I am," they brag. We have already legalized murder and sexual immorality, and now they want to legalize marijuana.
I won't be here much longer, but God help my grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I have a lot more reasons to pray for the coming of Christ. He is truly our only hope.
