Tom (Tommy Jack Warren, Jr.) was born in Sherman, Texas, on March 15, 1968. He spent seven of his very early years in Omaha, Nebraska, and entered the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw (Texas) school system when he was in the fourth grade. He graduated from Boswell High School and immediately entered the U.S. Navy.
Tom was assigned to a hovercraft unit and went to Kuwait in the Desert Storm invasion of Iraq. After that war, he was assigned to a collection unit to bring in sailors who had gone AWOL.
I remember a pastor asking me during the Desert Storm operation how I felt about Tom's involvement. I said I had mixed emotions. That was because I was so very proud of a son who was serving his country but concerned for his safety at the same time. I think most parents in similar circumstances feel the same way. He is now a manager for a national chain store.
His mother and I have prayed for his safety all of his life and give God the credit for bringing him to this stage in his life.
