Many of us who are not shy to proclaim our belief in the wonderful doctrines of grace find ourselves gravitating toward others who subscribe to the 1689 Baptist Confession. It is truly my hope that it will be the one instrument next to God's Word that breaks down walls and brings together churches of diverse associations.
The 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith preceded the Philidelphia Confession by only 54 years, but it was the most popular among Calvinistic Baptists in that time period. Charles Spurgeon had a seventh edition printed in 1855 and said "We need a banner because of the truth; it may be that this small volume may aid the cause of the glorious gospel by testifying plainly what are its leading doctrines."

The authorDr. Jack Warren was born in Floydada, Texas, in 1938, the son of a Baptist pastor. His family moved to Fort Worth when his father enrolled in the Seminary in 1949. He was in the first class graduating from L.D. Bell High School, Hurst, Texas, in 1956. He attended Arlington State College (now University of Texas at Arlington), Arlington Baptist College, Bible Baptist Seminary, the University of Nebraska at Omaha and received a Doctor of Divinity Degree from Landmark Baptist Theological Seminary.
